Bringing a bot to life

There is a certain joy to bringing something to ‘life’ whether it is sentient or not.  There is not confusion in one’s mind when building a bot, you don’t really think that it is alive, but it is amazing to watch something spin up for the first time and do what it is supposed to.

Today we introduce you to Roger.  Roger (for now) is a bot that we are working on in partnership with another company (to be named when they so desire). Roger cuts grass, that’s it. We are not developing a bot to cut out tumors or to sniff out bombs (though those would be very fun) but it’s important all the same as it satisfies work that needs to be done.

Over the next few weeks we will be breaking down Roger into a few short posts to show updates and what it’s final destination is.  For now, here are his humble beginnings…

EDIT: I’ve been asked a couple of times … why the name Roger?  My answer is that I really don’t know.  It just sounds like a good and dependable name.
